How the FANGORIA folks reinvented PUPPET MASTER | Interview

Howdy! Joining us today to talk about the new Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich is co-producer and Cinestate's VP of Production, Amanda Presmyk. Also joining me is Tate Steinsiek, the effects artist who brought The Littlest Reich's puppets to life. Listen above!

If you grew up on genre cinema like Drew and I did, you've heard of Fangoria magazine. You've probably heard of the Puppet Master movies, too. In 1989, Charles Band (the infamous mind behind Full Moon Features) released Puppet Master direct to video. From then until the fall of Blockbuster Video, the Puppet Master movies were video store mainstays.

But despite the disappearance of video rental stores, the Puppet Master series has still been chugging along thanks to the continued efforts of creator Charles Band. The latest installment is a reboot subtitled The Littlest Reich, and it's making the festival rounds right now. It stars Tom Lennon (Reno 911!), Barbara Crampton, Michael Paré, and Udo Kier.

What's more, Full Moon Features isn't steering the ship this time. For The Littlest Reich, it's the same company behind the recent acquisition and impending re-launch of Fangoria. That company is Cinestate, a Texas-based outfit owned by producer Dallas Sonnier. He produced writer/filmmaker S. Craig Zahler's gruesome Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99. Now Sonnier and Zahler have brought their taste for exploitation to Puppet Master.
